names are a tricky thing: for shorthand, i'm J., but here's a convenient list of things you can call me.
i'm difficult to pin down, so there's no simple or easy way to explain myself. i'm a witch, though not in the sense you likely imagine and certainly not intentionally.
A witch, really?
sometimes, you enter a space, and it chooses you, and then your fate is sealed. that's how i came to manage a local fen while moving through an area i never planned to stay in. over the past 600 or so years, i've worked a lot jobs and been a lot of places, but i will say i've never done something quite like this. in the past perhaps i've identified as (or been identified as, by onlookers) a wizard, a sorcerer. but this job, is i suppose is closer to a "druid." i work to maintain the balance of this wetland, doing the best i can to keep it healthy and thriving. i don't do it alone. i work with the plants, the animals, the fae, etc. to keep the order. frankly, they know more than me. i'm still knew to this.
but i suppose i haven't been doing too bad. i've been asked to help with a unique project. north of here, and about 200 years ago, the swamp was drained. the fae came to me, and asked me to undrain it. i'm starting to think i've bit off more than i can chew, by coming here...
So what's up with the trees?
i'm in the woods all the time. i like to take pictures while i'm there, to capture the moment. the cool thing about the forest is, it's never the same twice. anytime you walk through the woods, it's an entirely unique moment, even if you walk the same trail every day. that's why i like taking pictures of trees during my walks, to capture those unique, ephemeral moments.
also, i think trees and phtography are really cool. wish i had a better camera, because my phone absolutely cannot properly capture the beauty i see with my own eyes.
Nonexhaustive list of other things i like
i have a lot of hobbies outside of hiking and nature phtography, although i do need to be walked like a dog just about every day to be content. i also love to exercise and go for runs!
i enjoy making art (watercolor, digital, pen/pencil, sewing, composing, etc.), writing (stories, poetry), playing instruments (saxophone, bassoon, bass guitar), meeting new people, spending time with friends, cooking, birding, listening to music.
also, i havee a deep passion for learning new things. i love learning about different cultures, countries, languages (linguistics in general, and i've been trying to learn 中文, with innumerable struggles), history (though i'm not terribly interested in wars or economics, more social, cultural, and environmental), animals, plants, just about anything and everything.
